Marlborough Counselling provides a professional Crisis Plan service for therapists.

As a professional therapist you have a responsibility to take care of your clients should anything happen to you. It’s often the unexpected that catches us out. And none of us are indestructible! You might die or become incapacitated and in those circumstances it's important that someone informs your clients and helps them manage the new situation if required.

The Marlborough Counselling Crisis Plan service includes the following:
  • Acting on your behalf to inform all of your clients of your absence according to your stipulations
  • Arranging holding sessions, or referring on, if necessary
  • Helping you to think through the exact process that you want put in place
  • Treating your and your clients’ information with confidentiality according to professional ethical standards
  • Providing this Plan for any therapist within The United Kingdom
If you decide to use the Plan you will be invited to create a secure online document which Marlborough Counselling will be able to access if necessary. This allows you to update information about your practice in a timely and confidential manner. You will also be asked to identify a 'nominated person' who will contact Marlborough Counselling should anything happen to you in order to action the Crisis Plan. Access to your information is checked regularly and, once in place, your Crisis Plan runs quietly in the background to support your Practice.

Briony Martin, an experienced psychotherapist and supervisor, manages the Crisis Plan personally, with the support of a small team of trusted, qualified and experienced colleagues.

Membership of the Plan costs £10 per month for up to 25 clients/supervisees, with a one-off £50 initial registration fee. If your practice regularly holds more than 25 clients/supervisees the fee is £16 per month.
